Raceme with profuse blooms deep reddish purple flowers with buff yellow keels extends above the mound from late spring into summer. The blooms give way to large seedpods that blacken when ripe, providing ornamental interest. Flowers best in full sun with dry to average well drained acidic soils. Drought tolerant once established.
