A well preserved national ensign of the Federal Republic of Germany, of multi piece and multi coloured cotton construction, consisting of an equal parts black, red, and golden yellow base, bearing a double sided national emblem consisting of a golden yellow shield overlaid by a multi piece black and red German national eagle, the hoist edge reinforced with a layer of white cotton, the reverse of the hoist border stamped with an inscription of
