Hoyt's A Midnight Bell Early America The Succes of PeugeotOriginal poster for Hoyt's A Midnight Bell opened in the Bijou Theatre circa 1889. Chaotic scene depicted in which a butler slips up. Charles Hale Hoyt, born in 1859, was a brilliant farcical comedy writer who entitled virtually everyone of his plays beginning with a A to bump his name to the top of whatever list he appeared on. He wrote his farces till he passed far too soon at the age of 41 in 1900. CONDITION A few tears on top and top left of poster
